Find the right robot

We define your use case together. Then we select the robot and configure it.

Most automation projects fail because the initial analysis is done superficially. Abra starts from the assessment: we map your processes, evaluate existing solutions, simulate in 3D with real physics, and - only if it makes sense - we co-design the POC together.

The problem

Why many robots purchased without an assessment end up unused.

Robotics is a rapidly evolving technology. Model selection, software development, and integrating a robot into a company's production process are delicate and complex phases that determine the viability of any project.

At Abra Robotics, we know this well. That is why, if you want to understand whether your company can benefit from a robot, we offer a tailored path to find out quickly, with real numbers.

The process

How an Abra assessment works.

Four phases. Each phase has a concrete output and a decision point.

1
Step 1 · Process Mapping

Understanding what you do today, before imagining what the robot would do.

We map the real process: material flow, cycle times, part variability, physical layout, interfaces with operators and other systems. We also collect constraints and requirements: what you want to achieve, what you cannot change, and what budget, time, and organizational limits exist. Constraints matter as much as the process itself.

Output of this phase
  • Current process map (as-is)
  • List of automation candidate tasks, ranked by feasibility and impact
  • Explicitly documented constraints
  • Initial technical feasibility estimate
2
Step 2 · Existing Solutions Review

Search before designing. An existing solution is always better than a custom one.

The market has hundreds of already-deployed solutions. Before designing something new, we check if an answer already exists: a cobot with a standard gripper, an AMR with a pre-configured path, a software package already tested on that type of task. If a mature solution exists and your use case fits, that is the choice. If it does not exist, or if your complexity rules it out, we move to co-design.

Output of this phase
  • Benchmarking of available solutions for your use case
  • Fit assessment: standard solution vs. co-design
  • Data-backed recommendation
3
Step 3 · 3D Simulation with Real Physics

See the robot in your process before it physically exists.

Before any order, we simulate in 3D with real physics what the robot will need to do in your environment. This is not an animation: it is a simulation using the physical characteristics of the selected robot, the real layout of the space, reach and payload constraints, and estimated cycle times. If the simulation does not work, the real robot will not work either. If it does work, you already have a measurable baseline before purchasing. We use Isaac Sim (NVIDIA), MuJoCo, or Gazebo depending on task complexity.

Output of this phase
  • 3D simulation of the task in your environment
  • Technical validation of reach, payload, and cycle times
  • Identification of critical points before installation
  • Baseline KPIs to compare against real POC results
4
Step 4 · POC Co-Design and Regulatory Coverage

We design the POC together. And we handle the regulatory side too.

If the simulation validates feasibility, we design the POC: measurable objectives, hardware configuration, test scope, success criteria, and timeline. The POC is not "let's try and see": it is an experiment with clear hypotheses and defined evaluation metrics. In parallel, we handle the regulatory side: risk assessment specific to your use case (ISO 10218 and ISO/TS 15066 for cobots, ISO 3691-4 for AMRs, EU Reg. 2023/1230 for machinery), updated DVR if needed, and CE documentation. We manage this alongside your safety officer. We do not leave it to the client alone.

Output of this phase
  • POC plan with objectives, KPIs, hardware configuration, and timeline
  • Preliminary risk assessment
  • Platform- and sector-specific regulatory checklist
  • Commercial proposal based on real data

What you get

What you get in concrete terms.

01 · Documentation

Process map

Structured documentation of the current process, candidate tasks, and constraints. A technical document you can use internally as well - not a generic PowerPoint.

02 · Comparison

Solutions benchmarking

Comparison of solutions available on the market for your use case, with data on costs, deployment timelines, and real-world cases. No recommendation without data.

03 · Validation

Validated 3D simulation

Task simulation in your environment with the selected robot. Output: simulation video, technical report with estimated KPIs, and identification of critical points.

04 · Decision

Executable POC plan

If the simulation validates feasibility: a complete plan with objectives, metrics, hardware, regulatory coverage, and a commercial proposal. Ready to take to internal approval without further analysis.

Who it's for

Who needs a structured assessment.

Manufacturing companies

You want to automate a repetitive process but are not sure whether a cobot is the right answer, which one to choose, or whether your layout allows it. The assessment gives you an answer based on your data, not the robot's datasheet.

Logistics manager

You have inefficiencies in internal transport or picking but are not sure whether an AMR integrates with your WMS, what deployment actually costs, and when you break even. We deliver a complete evaluation before any spending commitment.

R&D or innovation manager

You want to explore collaborative robotics or embodied AI but do not have a defined use case. The assessment helps you identify the starting point with the best risk-to-impact ratio.

Universities and research centers

You are starting a laboratory or a project on a specific platform. We help you define measurable objectives, choose the right hardware configuration, and structure a POC that produces useful data - not just a demo.

Honesty

When the assessment says no.

Not every process can be automated. Not every use case justifies the investment. Not every timeline is realistic. If after the mapping the evaluation is that a robot does not solve your problem, or that simpler and less expensive solutions exist, we tell you. The assessment has value even when the answer is no, because it clarifies what to do instead.

Indicative timeline

How long it takes.

Timelines vary depending on process complexity. A single use case typically requires 5-9 weeks from the start.

Phase Typical duration
Process mapping and requirements 1-2 weeks
Solutions benchmarking 1 week
3D simulation 2-4 weeks
POC co-design and regulatory coverage 1-2 weeks
Estimated total 5-9 weeks

The assessment cost is applied as a discount on the final hardware if the project proceeds to purchase.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Do I need to know which robot I want?

No - in fact, it is better if you do not. The assessment is specifically designed to identify the right solution for your problem. If you come with a precise idea, we verify it with data. If you come with an open problem, we analyze it without preconceptions.

Does the 3D simulation use my actual layout?

Yes. We use floor plans and dimensional data of your space. If you do not have a CAD file, we work with measurements and site visit photos. The goal is to get as close as possible to real conditions before any order.

Who handles the regulatory side?

The Abra technical team handles the preliminary risk assessment and the regulatory checklist. For formal CE documentation and DVR updates, we work alongside your safety officer. We do not replace your safety manager: we support them with the technical specifics of collaborative robotics.

Does the POC require buying the robot first?

Not necessarily. In some cases, the POC is conducted through extended simulation. In others, we evaluate rental or short-term pilot options. The structure depends on the specific case and the maturity level of the process.

What happens if the POC does not meet its objectives?

We analyze it together. A POC that does not meet its KPIs is not a failure: it is information. We identify what did not work (process, configuration, expectations) and decide together whether to iterate, change approach, or stop.

What does the assessment cost?

The cost varies depending on process complexity and the number of tasks to analyze. We define it in the first call, after understanding your specific case. The first call is free.
