The robot
A programmable humanoid robot at an accessible price. Not a niche product, not a laboratory prototype: a fully functional system with open SDK.
For whom
Universities and degree programs in robotics or engineering, research laboratories with limited budgets, development teams seeking their first programmable humanoid robot, companies looking to explore human-robot interaction without the investment of a G1.
What you can do with it
R1 EDU vs G1 EDU
It is not a matter of better or worse - these are products for different needs. The G1 EDU is larger (132 cm), heavier (35 kg), has more computational power (100 TOPS) and costs approximately three times more. The R1 EDU is the right choice if budget is the primary constraint, if working in limited spaces, or if you want a first humanoid robot before investing more.
R1 EDU vs R1 Base
The Base version does not support custom programming: it is a pre-programmed robot operable via remote control. The R1 EDU adds open SDK, ROS2, NVIDIA Jetson Orin and NVIDIA Isaac SIM support. If you are planning software development or research, you need the EDU version.
